PLOTTER
Plotters are output device . They are used to produce precise and good quality graphics and drawings under control of the computer, They use ink pen or inkjet to draw graphics or drawings. Either single colour or multi coloured pens can be employed . The pens are driven by a stepper motor . Drawing can be prepared on paper , Vellum, or mylar (polyster film). Colour transparencies can also be prepared . One can print charts , drawing , maps, and three dimentional illustrations with plollor. Pen plotters are show device . The graphics and drawing produced by pen plotters are uniform and precise and are of very good quality. They are used for low to medium volume jobs.
Pen plotters may be classified into the following four types such as :
- Drum plotter
- Microgrip plotter
- Flat - bed Plotter
- Inkjet plotter
Each type is used depending on the quality of graphics work needed.
Generally , plotter can be of two types
- Drum PLotter
- Flat bed plotter
- Drum Plotter = This is an output device that uses a pen type structure that moves on paper surface to draw a graphics . A paper rolls along by the drum and this pen draws graphical illustration like a mechanical artist under the control of computer. The colour presentation by plotter are excellent plotter also have fibre tipped pen but when high quality is desired then technical drafting pen is used. This pen is capable of drawing a line even equal to the thousand part of an inch. Coloured plotters may have four or more than four pens. A plotter plots a drawing with a steady rate of few inches per second.
- Flat Bed Plotter = In this type of plotter paper is kept on a stable non moving bed or tray .An arm with a pen driven by motor is incorporated within this arm draws graphics, under the control of instruction given by computer along X-axis and Y-axis.
